Surly Bike Covers

Surly build steel bikes that get used all year and stored outside — road and gravel, loaded touring, singlespeed, mountain and longtail cargo. A waterproof rain cover keeps standing water off the frame, saddle, drivetrain and any bags left on the bike between rides. On everything except the longtails it is handlebar width, not length, that decides which cover you need.

Surly was hauling kids and cargo on steel longtails long before e-cargo bikes were everywhere. The Big Dummy is now a legacy model and the Big Easy added a Bosch motor to the same idea — both are bikes people keep for decades, which is exactly the kind of bike worth protecting outside.

A front rack, loaded panniers, a big saddlebag or bar-end extensions all add to the shape you're covering, and a wide flat or swept bar needs far more room than a drop bar — the flat-bar builds of some models take a different cover from the drop-bar ones. Send us your exact model and what's fitted and we'll check it before you order.

Every BikeParka cover is made from waterproof ripstop with taped seams and has lock slots, so you can lock cover and bike together. Adjustable toggles cinch the cover down in wind, and each one packs into its own Stuff Sac.

Standard-bike cover sizes

The STASH and URBAN are the same size and fit standard-shape bikes with handlebars up to 63cm wide. They differ only in locking: the URBAN has lock-through panels, the STASH brass eyelets in the hem. The XL / MTB takes handlebars up to 100cm, which is where the wide swept-bar Surlys go.

Longtail cover sizes

The BikeParka Longtail and Longtail WS both fit bikes up to approximately 210cm long with handlebars up to about 80cm wide. The WS is cut wider and taller at the rear to clear fitted child seats.

Which cover fits the Surly Big Dummy?

The BikeParka Longtail WS with a rear child seat fitted, or the standard Longtail without. Surly doesn't publish an overall length for the Big Dummy, but its longtail shape sits within the Longtail range for most builds — message us if your setup is unusual.

Which cover fits the Surly Big Easy?

The Big Easy measures around 224cm, which is past the Longtail cover's approximately 210cm recommendation. Message us before ordering and we'll advise on the best option for your build.

Is the Big Dummy still made?

Surly lists the Big Dummy as a legacy model, but there are plenty on the road and secondhand — the covers fit regardless of the year.

Which cover fits the Surly Cross-Check, Disc Trucker or Midnight Special?

All three are drop-bar bikes with handlebars of approximately 46cm, so the STASH is the likely fit and the URBAN is the same size if you would rather have lock-through panels. Those bar widths are derived rather than published, so we'd confirm your model first. On a standard-shape bike like these, length is not the deciding measurement — bar width is.

Which cover fits the Surly Karate Monkey, Ogre or Bridge Club?

The XL / MTB. All three run wide swept bars — approximately 74cm on the Karate Monkey, 75cm on the Ogre and 66cm on the Bridge Club — which is past the 63cm the STASH and URBAN allow. Those figures are derived, so we'd confirm your model first; the XL / MTB takes bars up to 100cm either way.

Does the small-wheeled Surly Pack Rat need a smaller cover?

No. The Pack Rat is an adult bike on small wheels, not a kids bike. Its dirt-drop bars measure approximately 46cm, so the STASH is the likely fit, with the URBAN as the same-size alternative. The bar width is derived, so we'd confirm your build first.

Which cover fits the Surly Preamble or Steamroller?

Both run narrow bars — approximately 44cm on the drop-bar Preamble and approximately 42cm on the Steamroller — so the STASH is the likely fit, with the URBAN as the alternative. Surly also sells a flat-bar Preamble, and that build's wider bar would need the XL / MTB, so we'd confirm which one you have before you order.
