Xtracycle longtails are built to carry children and cargo every day, and plenty of them are stored outside. The BikeParka Longtail range is shaped for their extended rear decks.

Which of the two longtail covers you need depends mostly on whether child seats or a taller passenger setup are fitted.

All BikeParka covers are made from waterproof, seam-sealed ripstop fabric and include lock-through openings, allowing the cover and bike to be secured together. Adjustable toggles help draw the cover in around the bike on windy days, and each cover packs into its own Stuff Sac.

How to fit a longtail cover

The BikeParka Longtail and Longtail WS are fitted from the back of the bike towards the front. Start by pulling the rear of the cover over the rear deck, rack or child seats. Work the cover forward along the bike, then pull the front over the handlebars. Finally, adjust the toggles to draw the cover in around the bike.

Which cover fits the Xtracycle RFA?

The Longtail with no child seats fitted. With seats or a Hooptie rail fitted, choose the wider and taller Longtail WS. The RFA is 186.5cm long with 64cm bars, so it sits well inside what both covers take.

Which cover fits the Xtracycle Swoop?

Most Swoops carry child seats or a Hooptie, and with seats fitted the cover you need is the Longtail WS. With no seats fitted, the standard Longtail. At 211cm the Swoop is just past the length the Longtail covers take, so we call it the likely fit rather than a confirmed one — measure the bare bike, with rear accessories removed, and check the model with us before ordering.

Do you cover the older Edgerunner models?

Yes. The Edgerunner is a legacy model, retired and superseded by the Swoop, but plenty are still in daily use. It is approximately 201cm long — an estimate rather than a published figure — with 64cm bars. With child seats fitted the Longtail WS is the cover; with no seats fitted, the standard Longtail. Edgerunner builds vary a lot, so message us your setup and we’ll confirm before you order.

How wide are the handlebars on an Xtracycle?

Narrow enough that bar width is not what decides the rain cover. We have the RFA and the Edgerunner at 64cm and the Swoop at 66cm, and both longtail covers take handlebars up to 80cm. On an Xtracycle it is length, and whether child seats are fitted, that decides which cover you need.

Longtail or Longtail WS — how do I tell which I need?

It is the same bike either way, so it comes down to how yours is set up rather than which cover you prefer. If the rear deck is bare, the Longtail is the one. If child seats, a Hooptie or any raised passenger setup stay on the bike, you need the extra width and height of the Longtail WS to go over them.
