Boardman Bike Covers — SLR, ADV & HYB

Boardman is a British brand sold through Halfords, and the range runs from road bikes through gravel and urban builds to hybrids and mountain bikes. They are bikes people buy to ride regularly rather than to admire, whether that is a commute, a club run or the weekend loop.

Ridden that often, they usually end up parked outside — in the yard, beside the shed, on a balcony, or locked to a rack outside a block of flats. Most of the range takes the STASH or the URBAN, which are the same size as one another; the wider-barred hybrid and mountain models take the XL / MTB.

Which BikeParka fits your Boardman?

Accessories change the shape a cover has to go over. Racks, panniers left on the bike, bar bags, child seats, mudguards, mirrors and bar-end extensions all add width or height, and a URB set up for commuting is a different job from a bare one. All BikeParka covers are made from waterproof, seam-sealed ripstop fabric, and they're PFAS- and PFC-free. Adjustable toggles draw the cover in around the bike on windy days, and each one packs into its own Stuff Sac. The URBAN has built-in lock-through panels so cover and bike can be secured together; the STASH and XL / MTB have brass eyelets at the hem for threading a cable lock.

Which size cover?

Handlebar width is the measurement that matters most, so measure yours end to end before you choose. The STASH and the URBAN are the same size and fit standard bikes with handlebars up to 63cm — they differ in how they lock, not in how they fit. The SLR 8.9 is around 42cm across the bars and the URB 8.9 around 60cm, so both are inside that, though the URB does not leave much spare. The HYB 8.6 is around 68cm, past what the STASH and URBAN take, so it needs the XL / MTB — that cover handles handlebars up to 100cm and is cut for mountain bikes, trekking bikes, bigger frames and bulkier e-bikes. We also make a Kids / BMX cover for children's bikes and BMX up to 140cm long, 120cm high with handlebars up to 55cm, but it is not intended for small adult or folding bikes.

Which cover fits a Boardman SLR 8.9?

The STASH or the URBAN. The SLR 8.9 is around 42cm across the bars, comfortably inside the 63cm both covers take. Choose the URBAN if you want the built-in lock-through panels so cover and bike can be secured together, or the STASH if you would rather thread a cable lock through the brass eyelets at the hem.

Will the URB 8.9 fit the same cover?

Yes, but with less to spare. The URB 8.9 is around 60cm across the bars against a 63cm limit, so it fits the STASH or URBAN. If you have bar-end extensions or mirrors fitted, message us before you order and we will check.

Why does the HYB 8.6 need the XL / MTB?

Its bars are wider — around 68cm, past the 63cm the STASH and URBAN take. The XL / MTB covers handlebars up to 100cm, so it suits the HYB 8.6 and the MTX 8.6.
